EveryDIY.ca is independent and reader-supported. The site is free to use; we cover our costs in three ways.
1. Affiliate links
When we recommend a tool or material, the link may go to a Canadian retailer (Home Depot Canada, Amazon.ca, Lowe's, Canadian Tire, etc.). If you buy through that link we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Recommendations are based on real-world use and Canadian availability — never on commission rate.
2. Local-pro referrals
Some of our emergency and trades guides include a form to request a quote from a vetted local Canadian pro (HVAC, plumbing, garage door, electrical). We may earn a referral fee from the contractor network if the lead is accepted. You are never charged for the referral.
3. Sponsorships (rare)
Occasionally a Canadian brand will sponsor a specific guide, calculator, or newsletter. Sponsored content is always labelled Sponsored at the top, and editorial standards still apply — sponsors do not get to change our recommendations or remove safety warnings.
What we will never do
- Recommend a product, tool, or pro we wouldn't use ourselves.
- Hide that a link is an affiliate or that a guide is sponsored.
- Sell or share newsletter subscriber data. See our Privacy Policy.
- Let advertisers override safety guidance or code requirements.
